Hello Achilles,
Mentoring of emerging and new chapters is an approach that raised great interest during the last General Meeting of itSMFI. Indeed, all chapters can learn from each other, whether it be via a formal mentoring process, other types of exchanges, or by developping a less formal relationship with another chapter.
Some of the most important questions may be the practical questions of language, time zone and cultural diversity. Are you interested in working with a French and/or English speaking chapter? As a member of itSMF Switzerland, I would be happy to help you explore ways of setting up and growing your chapter.
Kind regards,
Robert

Achilles, Robert;
As Robert mentions, the concept of mentoring emerging and new chapters did generate interest during the Chapter Leadership Event and itSMFI General Meeting in Warwick last fall last.
Other issues around the whole Chapter development process were also discussed and in response to this, the itSMFI is in the midst of establishing a new International committee (the International Chapter Development & Support Committee: iDaSC) to do the following:
1. Review current Chapter Development Process (CDP) to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
2. Define and document an improved Chapter Development Process.
3. Define and document roles and responsibilities associated with the
Chapter Development Process (e.g.., Chapter Mentors)
4. Define and document qualifications and training for those roles
5. Provide resources to enable the Chapter Development & Support Process
Robert: you’d be a welcome member from Switzerland of this new committee!
Ken Wendle,
itSMFI Director of Chapter Services
