Over the past number of years, itSMF International (itSMFI) has approved the formation of new chapters through a well established and long standing process.
This is a critical service of the itSMFI and one that nurtures and makes possible, the growth of our movement around the world. Consistent with our philosophy of continual service improvement for all itSMFI initiatives, we review our processes with a view to ensuring their continued relevance, effectiveness and value.
A recent review of itSMFI processes related to Chapter approval, reveals deficiencies in addressing the logistics and management requirements for the approval of Chapters. This is driven by the increased complexity of local and international legal entities and the need to balance the Chapter's operational autonomy with international brand management and accountability within the global movement.
The itSMFI objective to ensure that the approval, operation and growth of new Chapters, continues to be a coordinated and well managed effort, has resulted in the need for process improvements and changes.
As Chair of itSMFI, the itSMFI Directors and I have agreed that these changes must be considered and planned for implementation as soon as practical. I have therefore enacted a moratorium on the approval of any new Chapters during this time and until process improvements are in effect.
We of course wish to continue to be responsive to any interest expressed to form new Chapters and so will continue to interact with interested parties and officially recognized and register interest from the community.
Parties interested in applying for Chapter formation are encouraged to review information/contact itSMFI via http://www.itsmfi.org/content/emerging-countries.
Your interest will be registered and we will commence working actively on Chapter approvals once process improvements are implemented.
If you have any specific enquiries then please contact me via Chris Roberts (Member Services), at chris.roberts@itsmfi.org
Warm regards,
Sharon Taylor, Chair
