Does anyone have a view on how the V2 ITIL Infrastructure Management qualification should be recognised or credited in the V3 qualifications?
People who have taken this qualification (3 hour written paper so no small feat) seem to have been left out in the cold with no credits towards the new V3 qualifications

In my opinion it's a practitioner qualification and probably should give the same credits as a clustered practitioner i.e. 3.5.
Best regards,
Michael.

| So do you know to whom this apparent omission should be addressed please ?

It should be addressed to APMG, but don't ask me to whom or how it's done.
Best regards,
Michael.

When the original V2 practitioner mapping was done the Qualification Board realised that other qualifications outside of the standard 'Service Management' offerings would need to be addressed. It's on our list of outstanding actions.
The Qualifications Board meets in Utrecht on May 14th after which there may be more news.

I can confirm that the process for endorsing Service Management Qualifications for credits in the new V3 scheme has been outstanding for some time, ISEB has proposed the ITIL IM qualification to be reviewed by the panel and is awaiting the outcome of their decision, the number of credits will be assessed once this has been done.
It is hoped that this process will be confirmed on the 14th of May and a communcaiton will be sent to all relevant stakeholders.

Thanks, Claire

As someone who teaches Ictim and Service Management at all levels I would say putting the Ictim qualification at the same level as a practitioner seriously undervalues the amount of effort required to achieve a pass in this subject area.
It also fails to acknowledge the sizable chunk of Itil V3 that was Ictim. Ictim considers all elements of the service lifecycle; it also underpins a lot of activities in the V2 Service Management disciplines.

Following the Qualification Board meeting, itSMF International have been asked to propose a process and make recommendations for endorsing other qualifications.
This task has been passed to the IQC committee who are currently putting together a working party to address this. The first qualification for review will be the Infrastructure Management qualification.
kind regards
Rosemary

The ICTIM qualification has now been approved and included in the ITIL V3 scheme with 3.5 credits. More information on http://www.itil-officialsite.com/News/ICTInfrastructureManagementawardedComplementaryQualificationStatus.asp
