I heard several times that the ITIL Service Manager course should be delivered by two instructors, but I am not sure of such a fact.
Is that a must, or it is just a habit that is adopted by training providers?

The rules state that this is the case.

| If you have not got a document that details the information you need and you need to provide proof then I suggest that you contact either the ISEB/EXIN/APMG examinations officer and ask them to provide you with the information they will be more than happy to oblige.

After a good bit of digging I found this document for ISEB http://www.bcs.org/upload/pdf/staffing.pdf
I seem to remember that APMG have their similar document in a private area of their website and I've no idea about EXIN.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dunks for your help,
I went through the doucment, and what is very clear that, for IT Service Management courses two tutors should be present for at least 75% of the course duration. The wording is general for all ITSM courses, which means that even foundation courses should be held by two instructors, while the famous fact is that only higher level courses eg. Service Manager courses should be subjected to that restriction.
Anyways; I will keep searching in the same line that you opened as I am learning a lot just by searching.
Thanks again,

There are some other docs from ISEB which clarify the staffing levels.
Foundation and Practitioner 1 tutor.
Manager's > 5 delegates 1.8 trainers for the week - i.e. one of them can be there for just 4 days.
Manager's <=5 delegates 1.6 trainers

The rules have just been changed to remove the requirement for 2 tutors - a bad decision in my opinion

| I heard this last week too Liz. I've not read the communication from ISEB but agree with you that it's not a good move.

Not the first change by APMG that seems more focused on maximising profitability and marketability of courses, rather than maximising learning potential for the paying attendees. See also:
- up to 25 attendees per course (now with one instructor!)
- all five ITIL books in three days
- multi-choice for examining practitioners in IT consulting
